Introduction to Wood Carving and Whittling

When: Saturday, July 12 (9am-3pm)

Where: Old School Makerspace (2659 Eisenhauer Rd.)

What: This introductory course on wood carving with knives explores various techniques from whittling and spoon carving traditions. Students will learn essential skills such as knife sharpening, safe cutting methods, and grain direction analysis. The course covers diverse projects including a Moravian Star, wooden ball, spoon, and wood spirit carving. Participants will gain hands-on experience with various tools like hook knives, gouges, rasps, and files. The curriculum also introduces decorative embellishment techniques, providing a comprehensive foundation in wood carving artistry.

Age Requirement: Participants must be 10 years or older

Cost: $75. This class will run with a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 10. If this class does not receive sufficient registration, you will be notified the week of the class and your tuition will be refunded.
